The Impossible Task Of Choosing Just One Dish For An ‘Indian’ Out

There is definitely something exciting about eating out at an asian restaurant – or a the ‘Indian’ as we still always refer to our local.  It is a term of endearment that we use to show that we have great regard for the food and although we are not always familiar with the cultural differences each restaurant may contain, the food itself is more inspiring and enjoyable than any other.  I personally prefer sweeter, creamier sauces; not too much.  In fact my current favourite is any biryani dish which includes the cooked meat/prawns and biryani rice in one dish with a lightweight sauce plus a separate dish of curried vegetables to dip into.  In fact I was out on a family ‘jolly’ at the weekend and three of us chose from the biryani section and had fantastic value for money.   As I was celebrating a birthday, I chose the house special and to my amazemenet it came with lamb, chicken, prawn and rice, all in one sauce plus a small omlette on top of all that.   It also came with a side dish of vegetable curry – too delicious for words!

I am never very keen on the naan bread as I find they sit heavily on my gut.  I am however very taken with the starter of poppadoms with those little side dishes of finely sliced onion; sweet lime or mango chutney;  cucumber yogurt and usually a sweet chilli jam type.  Yippee all fantastic!
